The MacBook Pro features the Force Touch trackpad. The pad uses force sensors and haptic feedback to create a Force Click, which performs special functions depending on how hard or quickly you press, instead of relying on the usual left and right clicks. It's a fun way to interact with your laptop, but it's kind of gimmicky.Winner: Razer Blade. The Blade's Chroma keyboard wins here. You can customize the Blade's keyboard not only for aesthetics but useful functions for gaming and productivity.

The MacBook Pro's 512GB PCIe-based flash storage kept up the pressure on the File Transfer test, delivering a transfer rate of 636 MBps. That scorches the Blade's 256GB PCIe solid-state drive, which hit 359.2 MBps. However, the Blade overtook the MacBook on the OpenOffice Spreadsheet Macro test, pairing 20,000 names and addresses in 3 minutes and 55 seconds, compared with 4 minutes and 14 seconds for the MacBook Pro. Just because a notebook has discrete graphics doesn't mean you're going to get a stellar gaming experience. When we ran the World of Warcraft benchmark on the MacBook Pro, its AMD Radeon R9 M370X GPU with 2GB of VRAM notched 40 frames per second at its native resolution of 2880 x 1800 on low. The Blade's Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M with 6GB of VRAM ran circles around that, playing at a steady 163 fps at 3200 x 1800.

When we dropped the settings to 1080p, the Blade delivered an impressive 217 fps on low, soundly trouncing the MacBook Pro's 66 fps at 1920 x 1200. Once the settings were pushed to ultra, the Blade delivered 150 fps, while the MacBook Pro produced a still-playable 37 fps.The Blade continued to wreak havoc, delivering a steady 58 fps at 3200 x 1800 on Dirt 3 on high. During the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege benchmark, the laptop produced 54 fps on low and 32 fps at the maximum setting. The laptop lasted a whopping 9 hours and 8 minutes on our battery test (continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi). In contrast, the Blade tapped out 5 hours and 42 minutes, which is respectable for a gaming laptop but nowhere near Apple's notebook.

Both systems have a starting price of $1,999. On the MacBook Pro, that gets you an Intel Core i7 GPU with 16GB of RAM, a 256GB PCIe-based flash storage and Intel Iris Pro Graphics. The Blade packs an Intel Core i7 GPU with 16GB of RAM, a 256GB PCIe SSD and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M with 6GB of VRAM.

The price jumps significantly when you double the storage to 512GB for both laptops. The Blade's price rises to $2,199, while the MacBook's price leaps to $2,499. However, in the case of the MacBook Pro, you'll make the jump to discrete graphics with an AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB of VRAM.Winner: Razer Blade. Getting discrete graphics in the starting configuration made all the difference.

In the battle between the iPad Pro and the Kindle HDX, it would appear the judge matters more than the device. Both are within their own right, fantastic devices that are suited for slightly different populations. For those who want to watch Game Of Thrones while waiting for the red eye flight to New York, but doesn’t necessarily need to work on a last minute presentation at 30,000 feet, the Kindle is a great choice. Similarly, if you (or the person you are buying it for) happens to be a college student, the auxillary services Amazon provides, which include a textbook rental program that can save around 80% on most titles alongside quick, effective customer support only strengthens the case for purchasing this device. If however you need to have mobile video meetings, or work on the previously mentioned presentation (though let’s be honest, you’re probably on that last level of Candy Crush) the iPad may be more your speed. With either the iPad or the Kindle HDX tablet, you are sure to not be disappointed whether you are new to tablets, or an already established power user.

According to Gigabyte, the new Ultra Gaming motherboards include support for M.2 and U.2 solid-state drives, and Gigabyte-specific features like Hybrid Fan Control and the Ambient Surround LED system, the latter of which allows system builders to control the on-board LEDs and add LED strips by way of included pin headers. Thus, gamers can not only choose a specific color to dazzle onlookers, but set the lighting method and expand the lighting system to other components. Related: Gigabyte fields new P57 line of high-end gaming laptops As for the Hybrid Fan Control feature, Gigabyte said that customers using the Ultra Gaming motherboards can purchase aftermarket pumps or fans, and have one single universal controller to manage them — even if they operate under Pulse Width Modulation or Voltage Calibration modes. In addition to the Ultra Gaming boards, Gigabyte is showcasing Designare motherboards aimed specifically at content creators, designers, and digital artists. The company said it has made the motherboard selection process easier for these customers, who are looking for a solution that can withstand any job or application. These boards include USB 3.1 connectivity, and the Z170X models support three Intel NVM 750 SSDs working together in RAID 0 mode. Gigabyte is currently showcasing three X99 Series motherboards at the show: the GA-X99-Designare EX, the GA-X99-Ultra-Gaming, and the GA-X99, Phoenix SLI. Gigabyte’s new Xtreme Gaming family made its debut at Computex. The brand is focused on the ultimate gaming hardware and gear aimed at maximizing the gaming experience. Taking center stage is the company’s previously launched GTX 1080 G1 Gaming graphics card based on Nvidia’s juicy new “Pascal” GPU. Other offerings include the Xtreme Gaming 80 Plus Platinum-certified XP1200M power supply, the XK700 mechanical gaming keyboard with full N-Key rollover functionality, the XM300 gaming mouse with a 6,400 DPI optical sensor, the XH300 gaming headset with 50mm driver units enhanced with bass reproduction, and two new gaming-focused cases supporting multi-GPU configurations and built-in RGB backlighting: the XC700 and the XC300. Gigabyte Aero 14 Gigabyte Goes Ultra-Portable with The Aero 14 As shown in the video above, Gigabyte is going after the super-thin high-performance laptop market with the Aero 14. It’s built with PC gamers in mind, and packs up to a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics chip within a 19.9mm thin form factor. The basic features include HDMI 2.0 video output, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, an M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 solid-state drive for fast transfers and a zippy performance, and DDR4 memory.

According to a short list of hardware specs, models will sport a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 “Skylake” processor, either the GeForce GTX 965M or the GTX 970M graphics chip, and an IPS display sporting a hefty 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. There will actually be two video outputs, the other being a mini-DisplayPort jack supporting 4K video. There are also two slots for DDR4 memory, and a 94.23 Wh battery charging all the hardware packed inside this gaming laptop for up to 10 hours on a single charge. “Through Nano-Imprint Lithography, the Aero 14 has a sleek and unique design,” the company told the press. “This unique and environmentally friendly process grants the Aero 14 a 3D look, and feel, while retaining its original solid metallic feel with its full aluminum chassis. The Aero 14 comes in three colors: black, green, and orange. Putting extra emphasis on ultramobility, the Aero 14 is as thin as an Ultrabook, yet still retains the high-quality metallic finish.”

Gigabyte isn’t forgetting the professional market, as the company is currently showcasing a number of motherboards geared for the workstation and server. Two of them are ready for Intel’s latest Xeon V3/V4 processors: the MW70-3S0 and the MW70-SV0. They support DDR4 memory clocked at 2,400MHz, up to three Nvidia graphics chips in SLI mode, and provide “a dozen or more” storage ports. Alternately, the MW21-SE0 is the company’s “price-conscious option” that supports Intel’s Xeon E3 V5 processors.
